Nathan moves in

We're pleased to welcome Nathan, our forth young person to Embark. Moving out from your childhood home can be a big deal no matter what age you are and it's been no different for Nathan and his family as he moved out only two weeks after his 18th birthday, nevertheless he's settled in really well since moving in and is enjoying his new found independence and social life with his friends in the house. We don't only endeavor to provide support to the young people in the house but also to their families as it can be just as challenging for them as well. If you'd like to find out more on how we help support both young person and family please call us.

Christmas at Embark

Merry Christmas one and all! We've all just been out for a lovely Christmas meal to a local restaurant. It's been great to see how everybody's confidence has grown over the past 2 months, all the young people are now ordering and paying for their meals themselves. Most of our young people are making plans to head home for Christmas but Charles has decided to stay in the house this year and plans to invite his parents and Gran over for Christmas dinner - hopefully this is evidence that he's really been enjoying himself!

Embark opens it's doors

Welcome to Embark, we hope you enjoy keeping up to date with all our recent news and events. The idea of Embark came around in February 2009, we wanted to offer young adults with disabilities somewhere they could live together with friends, call home and have an unlimited amount of support that would enable them to become more active and independent and finally after 20 months of hard work and lots of meetings we opened in Oct 2010.

We pride ourselves on offering young people with disabilities a 24/7 supported living service that covers day to day jobs such as: preparing food; personal care; household chores; weekly shopping and financial assistance when paying bills. Whilst in our care we encourage as much social activity as possible such as: going out for meals, joining the local sports center or even just a game of pool at the local pub. We're really excited about what the future holds for Embark and it's young people, we hope you are too.
